Last night, the Apprentice aired on BBC TV. It’s the usual fight for the finishing line, vying for the prize. It’s not too strange to see a group of individuals all hoping to be the winner of this most publicised event. What is strange, or perhaps more fitting and uncomfortable, is the bitter vendettas that all too openly exist. The Apprentice has had some cult following over the last few years that it’s been aired, and this is what makes it all the more successful. The aspiring business people of the UK have been biding their time for the opportunity to compete in the most sought after reality TV show. It’s been on our screens since 2005, and now on series 8, there are still plenty of people still tuning in.
The competition, having just finished episode two, has 14 candidates remaining. Each week, sending home, ‘firing’, the competitor that has not impressed. This new batch of business and commercial savvy men and women are yet to experience the worst of the contest. With sparks flying high and tempers unleashed in the boardroom, there is bound to be more in the way of wars.
When it comes down to it, it’s the honest, hardworking and business savvy that win, right? It would be commonsensical to think this way. However, its the sharp, more astute fellow that will come out on top, if these contenders are anything to go by. Last years winner, nice guy Tom Pellerea, an inventor, was exactly the kind of person you’d wish to win. But this year, we look set to see someone of a different calibre nabbing first place. With two girls having been fired and the girls failing to get on without a squabble or a fight, it seems like the boys might clinch it. To the disappointment of the escorts London have to offer that are particularly keen on this show. It’s a fight for the finishing line.
Who is it that’s really the winner? Perhaps this is a question that we should quite seriously consider. Not only for the matter of discussing the latest TV viewing, but for the pure fact that is worthy of raising; is the competition really viable? All of these candidates are business minded and currently exist in this realm. It’s not a job they are looking for, however, it is the chance to shake hands with the man himself, Lord Sugar. Setting up a business is in fact, very difficult. It takes a lot of time, money and effort on the parts of everyone involved. Some may say that it is worthwhile going it alone, although some will need the financial backing of this influential businessman.
Vying for the winners seat is common in everyday life. We all want to achieve whichever benchmark we set ourselves. So, what can we learn from the telly box? Not to act like a crazed shouty woman (or man for that matter)? Well, that’s something that the London escorts take very seriously. The last thing that a gentleman client wants to experience is a woman screeching for attention.
Although, this is exactly what we can see the women on the Apprentice do. We’re not pretending, that the girls of the city and the rest of the UK and world are not the shouting kind, we’re all capable of that. Even you boys. What you need to know, however, is what’s acceptable and when.
What to do career wise; we’ll need to get back to you on that one. It’s more ‘what not to do’ rather than ‘do this and achieve great things’. Insightful telly!
